Letter ‘G’

English language has one of the smallest set of alphabets; but it is not as small as Italian one. By purloining a quote from George Orwell and paraphrasing it, we can say: all letters are equal but some are more equal than others. Movie buffs will recall that Fritz Lang's movie titled M in bygone era was immensely popular. Likewise, Costa-Gavras’ movie titled Z in which Yves Montand gave his customary brilliant performance took political world by storm. Friends of 221B Baker Street will readily recall how Sherlock Holmes solved a mystery in The Adventure of the Dancing Men based on a simple observation that in English lexicon, letter E appears more frequently than other letters.

In India, some other letter has all pervasive influence on the lives of all Indians of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Look at some of the everday acronyms like: CWG of Suresh Kalmadi fame, 2-G of A. Raja fame and K-G of Mukesh Ambani et. al. fame, to just name a few. Readers will appreciate that a blogpost is not an appropriate place for a magnum opus and hence we will confine to top few examples.

It is easy to note the common denominator; it is the letter G. Hardly any Indian denies the importance of G. Our greatest political party ‘congress’ would not exist without G and this holds good for some other parties as well. Ex: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In fact, it is a matter of great delicacy, but to spot G in sensitive places, one requires awareness and expertise!

WHO or whichever be the appropriate agency should readily recognize and declare that in India the pestilence known as first Generation scam (below Rs. 1,000 crore variety) has lost its virulence and it does not warrant any investigations! Even the next Generation mega-scams (Rs. 1,000 crores to 1,00,000 crores variety) are not significantly impacting Indians any longer!

Rejoice! We are in the nascent stages of the most promising new Generation of scams (above Rs. 1,00,000 crores variety) with double G i.e., Giga scams!
