Bill for Prevention of Blasphemy

It is a popular misconception that in a democracy, people are supreme. Such misbelieves are a resultant of poor and inadequate education in respect of parliamentary democracy. In the world’s biggest democracy, if not in all others, parliament and parliamentarians are supreme. Those readers who disagree with Tarantula need not even agree to disagree, instead, they can elicit the opinion of any one of 802 members, from either of the houses under the single roof parliament, who are always unanimous on this count. In reality, parliament is THE ultimate secular sanctum sanctorum of the nation. All the members of these houses are either elected by the country’s electorate by extremely fair means with majority of properly counted and tabulated votes in their respective constituencies or by such illustrious members themselves! No wonder they deservedly feel they are Gods, in fact they are, not merely incarnations, in whose hands the destiny of 1.21 billion aam aadmi rests squarely and safely but not precariously. Hence it follows that the parliament which houses these august Gods is THE sanctum sanctorum not withstanding the fact that these members squabble among themselves so intensely on the floor of the house, tear the papers on speaker's table, break mikes and so on but always stop short of defecating the sanctum sanctorum. People should realize their televised acts on dedicated channels are only for amusing the otherwise bored public and one should not draw any more extraneous conclusions.

Unfortunately, now and then and here and there we across one or two people who still naively entertain a pedestrian view that democracy is the government of/by/for the people and mistakenly target one or more P. Gods. What is it if not blasphemy? Rcenet incidents elsewhere proved such blasphemies are a form of virulent plague of modern variety which could effect millions spontaneously, more particularly in open places like parks, maidans, squares and so on.

In our country such blasphemies are punished in different ways, on or off the record, depending on the offended God(s), leading to one or more or all different punishments like: imprisonment, onetime punishment by encounter, reprimand by P., personal vilification, facing inquiries and getting haunted by CBI and such illustrious agencies, getting variously described as the one backed by RSS or CIA, if not terrorists.

In retrospect, these time tested punishment methods, though somewhat effective in individual instances, in larger sense they fail to eradicate the menace of blasphemy once for all. The solution lies in awarding a radically different punishment coupled with proper education, which reforms the offender and the public at the same time!!! How is it ever possible in this world? Well, during yesteryears it was unthinkable and impractical but with the communication revolution and corruption free spectrums like 2G, 3G, 4G and so on, it should be feasible. The accused should be given following imposition as punishment – either write 1.21 billion times or e-mail to all Indians sans 802 Gods:

a. Parliament is Supreme
b. Parliamentarians are Gods
c. In the hands of parliamentarians alone the destiny of people lies
d. All Indians should recite, at least once a day for the well being of the nation, the 802-name-stotram which will be updated regularly on need basis.

z. Parliament alone can make or break laws or procrastinate making laws forever.

Of course, tabling and passing such a Bill for Prevention of Blasphemy is the prerogative of our supreme parliament.
